Over time, AFUE numbers will continue to go down. Consider replacing the appliance with a more energy-efficient one when the AFUE rating is below 80 percent.
British Thermal Unit (BTU)
A calculation of the resources (heat) used in an HVAC unit to show the rate of cooling, dehumidifying, or heating.
To elevate the temperature of one pound of distilled water to an additional one degree Farhenheit, an energy equal to one BTU is required.
Central Heating System
